Transfer Students

One-third to one-half of all new students have acquired or were pursuing degrees from four-year liberal arts colleges, universities, two-year community colleges, or other colleges of art or design.

Applicants seeking to transfer to Massachusetts College of Art and Design may do so as first-year students, sophomores, or juniors.

The number of transferable studio-course credits - not liberal arts credits - acquired from previous post-secondary study determines the level at which students are eligible to apply. A minimum of eighteen studio credits in courses comparable to the MassArt Studio Foundation program is required to apply as an advanced transfer student (i.e., as a sophomore or junior).

Credits earned for liberal arts courses in which the course content parallels that of MassArt courses are considered for transfer credit but do not alter entrance-level decisions.
