Pozen Center Gala

Opening Bash for the Robert and Elizabeth Pozen Center for Interrelated Media

On Saturday evening, October 23, 2004, the college hosted a formal dedication and fundraiser for the newly renovated Robert and Elizabeth Pozen Center for Interrelated Media. This wonderful event involved the work of many: current students, SIM alumni, faculty and staff. The evening’s festivities featured installations by alumni Christian Marclay (SIM ’80) and Gail Wight (SIM ’88), performances and video installations by current SIM students, a fashion show of alumni work, and an Iron Pour in the Courtyard.

The Studio for Interrelated Media (SIM) is the earliest interdisciplinary department of MassArt and one of the most innovative areas of study at the college, where student and faculty experiment with mixing different media and genres. Founded in 1970 by Professor Harris Barron, SIM has a tradition of educating students in cutting-edge performance, installation, sound art, and increasingly, in explorations of emerging technologies and mixed media.
