Borrowing Privileges

Circulation is a library service that enables patrons to use and/or borrow materials in a timely, efficient, and equitable manner. Anyone may use library materials from the Morton R. Godine Library on site. Those wishing to borrow materials must have a current i.d. card from this or any FLO, FLC, or Massachusetts state college or university library. Some library materials only circulate to students, staff, and faculty of the College. If a patron wishes to use reserve materials and does not have an appropriate borrowing card, he/she may use the MassArt Guest Card available at the Circulation Desk and a picture i.d. (i.e. driver's license, state i.d.) while using the materials.

Fees for lost and/or damaged library materials apply to all borrowers, including staff and faculty of MassArt and are based on the average prices for art library materials found in the current edition of The Bowker Annual. Fees for posters and prints are based on the average prices found in current publishers' catalogues.

LP records will be replaced in the most widely-used, available format.

* Patrons can choose to replace an item instead of paying for the replacement cost. If you choose to replace an item that you have lost, you will need to speak to a librarian first.
**These are the maximum amounts you may have to pay for a damaged item. In some cases, a librarian maydetermine that the damage is not extensive enough to warrant repair, in which case you may not have to pay a fee. Every fee will be assessed on an item to item basis.

Borrower Delinquency:

When a patron’s borrowed material is overdue or lost, and/or the patron has an unpaid balance of greater than $5.00 of assessed library fines, the patron is designated “delinquent” and his/her borrowing privileges are suspended. Delinquency in any area of the library, AVMS Department, or any FLO library will result in suspension of borrowing privileges throughout the Morton R. Godine Library. Additionally, hold flags are placed on delinquent patron’s records four times a year:each semester prior to registration and each semester prior to grades being due in the registrar’s office. These hold flags prevent access to student records, receipt of grades or transcripts, and registration for courses. As soon as a patron either returns the overdue material or pays the fines, the hold flags will be removed.
