Crime Statistics

The Crime Awareness and Campus Security Act of 1990 mandates the publication of the following statistics concerning reports of crimes:

One burglary in 2003 and eleven burglaries in 2004 occurred in student residence halls.  The other burglaries took place on the main campus.

One robbery in 2005 was classified as a “hate” crime as there were indications the victim’s race was a motivating factor.  The incident occurred when the suspects pursued the victim from a public street onto the campus.  Neither the suspects nor the victim were associated with MassArt.

Arrests for liquor law, drug law, or weapons violations

During the three-year reporting period, there were no arrests for liquor law violations, drug law violations or weapons possession. 

Criminal offenses – public property

The following statistics were provided by the Boston Police Department.  These incidents did not occur on MassArt property.  They are included herein as required by law because the incidents took place on public property in areas that are nearby to property owned by MassArt.
