Academic Regalia Rental
It is strongly advised that Faculty members who wish to march in the procession
at the Commencement Exercise wear proper academic regalia. The MassArt Supply
and Bookstore handles all regalia rental.
If you have previously rented regalia through the Supply and Bookstore,
your information is already on file and you will only need to call and confirm
a re-order by March 21. Contact the bookstore manager with any questions
you may have at 617-739-4770.
New Faculty or staff who need to rent academic regalia should complete an
order form in the MassArt Supply and Bookstore by March 21. Late orders are
subject to an additional $40 shipping charge.
Note: All Faculty members participating onstage must wear, and are responsible
for their own, academic regalia. You may bring your regalia to the 11th floor,
Tower prior to May 17 and have it hung so that it is ready for assembly on
the morning of the event.

Pickup
Faculty members will be called when their regalia arrive. Orders will be available
for pickup in the MassArt Supply and Bookstore between 10:00am and 4:00pm
until Commencement Day. It is recommended that your regalia be picked up
early enough so that you have an opportunity to hang it and remove some of
the wrinkling that occurred during shipment.
Return
All regalia may be returned to the MassArt Supply and Bookstore immediately
following the ceremony. The final deadline date for returns is Wednesday,
May 23 by 4:00pm. All items must be returned. Do not keep any part of the
rented ensemble.
Robing and Assembly
Faculty members who are part of the Platform Party (onstage) will robe on the
11th floor, Tower beginning at 12:30pm. A Commencement volunteer will organize
the Platform Party for assembly and escort them down to the procession line
at 12:45pm.
Assembly for non-platform faculty members and staff will begin at 12:30pm
in the back of Evans Park (if the event is held outdoors) or on the Upper
Level (UL) of the Tower Building (if inclement weather prevents an outdoor
ceremony).
When you reach your chair at the Commencement site, please remain standing
until the entire procession has filed in and you are instructed to sit by
the Academic Vice President.
Upon completion of the ceremony, the Platform Party will be first to exit
followed by faculty and staff as announced by the Academic Vice President.
All graduates will follow the faculty and staff.
After the ceremony, graduates have fulfilled their requirements for the day
and are free to continue celebrating with family and friends in their own way.
Many Faculty members remain in the Commencement area to meet and greet with
students and their families.
