International Programs

Looking to gain a global perspective? Consider MassArt’s exciting lineup of international travel courses for spring 2008. You’ll join a group of inspired undergraduate and graduate level students led by MassArt faculty experts on an once-in-a-lifetime travel experience. Applications from Continuing Education students will be accepted on a space-available basis. Required course meetings will take place throughout the spring 2008 semester. Travel dates are subject to change.

Renaissance Splendor - The Golden Age of Venice and the Veneto

This course proposes to engage students in a comprehensive examination of the painting, sculpture, and architecture produced during the Golden Age of Venice and the Veneto.

Berlin: Cutting-edge Contemporary Architecture and Public Art

Mar 6-16, 2008

This elective studio will lead students on a ten-day study tour of Berlin, the capital of Germany, and provide opportunity for cross-disciplinary, collaborative, projectbased learning.

A Studio in Mexico - Puebla and Cholula

Mar 9-22, 2008

This drawing and mixed media studio course will bring students to south central Mexico. Students will visit many remarkable sites, including colonial palaces and homes, cathedrals and basilicas, museums and art galleries, artisan ateliers and markets to name a few.

Turkey / Istanbul and the Glass Furnace

This course will be a dynamic exploration of Turkey and the role that it has played shaping the cultural, artistic, and historical climate in Eastern Europe.

Eternal China: the Art and Architecture of China

This course’s intention is to immerse students in living history of China through close contacts with its ancient and contemporary culture.

Brazil: Global Community Fashion Design Partnership

Under the leadership of Renee Harding, Assistant Professor at the Massachusetts College of Art in Fashion Design, a small team of advanced students will be offered the opportunity to live and work with the artisans of Terra Prometida, a community of 250 families in the outskirts of Fortaleza, Brazil.

Ecuador: Teaching Artist Travel Experience

In this graduate-level course for students enrolled in MassArt’s Master of Science in Art Education program, students partner with various artists, artisans, craftspeople, teachers and institutions from Ecuador for a two-week studio/travel experience.
