NC424-C1 Palladian Printing WorkshopDESCRIPTION Learn to make beautiful palladium prints with an extraordinarily long tonal range in this 2-day workshop. Palladium printing produces beautiful dark brown prints with a velvety surface texture due to the way that the metals are absorbed by the paper support. This process, along with platinum, produces the most stable metal-based prints available. The first day we will make enlarged negatives from imagery from multiple sources. We can start with 35mm – large format negatives, prints or anything you can think of. We will make both digital negatives and enlarged negatives on film in the darkroom, learning what the best negatives for palladium printing should be and how to make them. We will print on the second day. We will hand-coat our paper, adjusting for contrast and density and learn how to get the best prints by focusing on fine-tuning the process. This class is for photographers at any level, however some darkroom experience is preferred.
