Tristin Lowe

A life-sized sperm whale made of white felt, a bed that wets itself, a giant sci-fi Cyclops-Tristin Lowe's (BFA '90) sculptures delve into the abject and vulnerable, the childish and crude. His most recent piece, Lunacy, is a contemplative large-scale exploration of the moon carefully crafted out of white felt. Celebratory, critical, and self-deprecating, Lowe's sculptures tap into social norms, fantasy worlds, underground culture, the carnival, and burlesque.
