For three decades, Ann Hamilton has been recognized as a poignant observer of social history with a unique capacity to materialized abstract concepts such as language, memory, and time. Though formally trained in textile design and sculpture, her work also stems from her self-taught investigation of performance art, photography, film/video, and audio production. She is renowned for her large-scale, labor-intensive, and site-responsive installations that relate to both the architectural presence and the human history of their locations.
