Fashion Intensive (Grades 7-12)
This robust introduction to fashion design gives students an understanding of how a piece of clothing is created from concept to drawing to construction. Students bring ideas from the drawing board to completion. A final fashion show gives the MassArt community the opportunity to see the results.
The #Selfie & Identity (Grades 9-12)
The "Selfie" is not an original artistic discovery, but an opportunity to present yourself in another medium that you feel communicates who you are on a deeper level. In this class we learn about a variety of artists such as Frida Kahlo, Keith Haring, Chuck Close, Kara Walker, and their approach to sharing their identity artistically. As students, by way of a variety of media, such as drawing painting, collaging, digital manipulation, and animation, you will explore the selfie; but first, let me take a #selfie.
Design Drawing (Grades 9-12)
This course introduces students to drawing as applied to illustration, fashion design, graphic design, industrial design and architecture. Daily presentations and exercises by visiting artists will allow students to explore the various design fields.
Drawing and Portfolio Development (Grades 9-12)
This course focuses on drawing — the heart of a serious portfolio. Students develop drawing skills using a wide variety of media by learning how to draw from observation, memory, and imagination. Class time is also spent looking at how other artists found ways to express their creative ideas. For sophomores, juniors, and seniors this class will be an opportunity to develop work for your portfolio.
