April Xtreme! Week
April 17-21, 2017
Monday–Friday, 9:30 a.m.–4.30 p.m.
Exhibition and celebration: April 21, 5:30-6:30 p.m.
Fashion Intensive (Grades 7-12)
This robust introduction to fashion design gives students an understanding of how a piece of clothing is created from concept to drawing to construction. Students bring ideas from the drawing board to completion. A final fashion show gives the MassArt community the opportunity to see the results. Please note that although it is not mandatory, fashion students are asked to provide themselves with a model throughout Xtreme!Week. This makes it possible for the student to show two garments during the final fashion show. A Model Release form, to be filled out by the parent/guardian of the model, will be sent with the orientation letter. Students will not need a model for the first day of class.
Portraits and Spaces: Mixed Media Photography (Grades 9-12)
This mixed media photography course will combine materials and processes including digital photography, cyanotype, collage techniques and drawing. In a dynamic studio environment, students will create original compositions as they explore their individual artistic voices. Students should bring a digital camera to class if they have one; cellphone cameras are welcome!
Drawing and Portfolio Development (Grades 9-12)
This course focuses on drawing — the heart of a serious portfolio. Students develop drawing skills using a wide variety of media by learning how to draw from observation, memory, and imagination. Class time is also spent looking at how other artists found ways to express their creative ideas. For sophomores, juniors, and seniors this class will be an opportunity to develop work for your portfolio.
Payment is due in full 10 days before the program start date.
