Important Deadlines

  • March 1 - Priority deadline for filing the FAFSA
You must file the FAFSA by this date in order to meet MassArt’s priority deadline and to be considered for all aid opportunities. The FAFSA can be completed as early as January 1.

Applicants should not delay filing financial aid documents while awaiting an admissions decision.
Students may apply after the priority deadline, but we cannot guarantee notification by April 15 for Fall applicants (December 1 for Spring applicants) and some federal, state, and institutional funds may no longer be available. Files completed after the deadline are subject to available funding.
  • Early April (Fall Admission)
Any additional documents requested by Student Financial Assistance should be submitted to the office by early April in order for new students to receive their financial assistance letter on time. These documents may include a verification worksheet, verification of federal tax return data, copies of W-2s, or other documents, as requested. Documents submitted after this date will still be processed, and financial aid will be awarded on a rolling basis.
  • Mid-April (Fall Admission)
New students who have been accepted to the college who have completed their financial aid application will receive their financial assistance letter in the mail from the Office of Student Financial Assistance by this time.
  • Mid-May (Fall Admission)
New students who have received their financial assistance letter should be sure to submit a signed copy of their financial assistance letter to Student Financial Assistance by mid-May in order to notify the college of what aid they would like to accept/decline for their first year.
  • Mid-June
Returning students who have completed their financial aid application will receive their financial assistance letters in the mail from Student Financial Assistance by mid-June.
  • First week of July – Fall billing statements will be mailed out on or around this date by the Business Office
Please note, your financial aid will only appear on your billing statement if you have returned a signed copy of your financial assistance letter to Student Financial Assistance. Parents who wish to borrow the Direct Parent PLUS Loan must also apply for the loan on www.studentloans.gov, and be approved, in order to have it appear on their student's bill.
  • First week of August – Fall bills are due to the Business Office
See billing statement from the Business Office for actual due date. Financial assistance letters must have been signed and returned to Student Financial Assistance prior to this date in order for your financial aid to be listed as a pending credit towards your bill.
  • Late November – Spring billing statements will be mailed out around Thanksgiving by the Business Office
Pending financial aid will be reflected on the billing statement, as long as Student Financial Assistance has a signed copy of your financial assistance letter on file and all necessary loan applications have been received.
  • Mid-December – Spring bills are due to the Business Office
See billing statement from the Business Office for actual due date. Financial assistance letters must have been signed and returned to Student Financial Assistance prior to this date in order for your financial aid to be listed as a pending credit towards your bill.
