What Are National Portfolio Days? National Portfolio Days are opportunities for those who wish to pursue an education and career in the visual and related arts to meet with representatives from institutions offering professional programs accredited by the National Association of Schools of Art and Design. They are free and open to the public. The events are held by host colleges throughout the United States and Canada. Portfolio days bring together students and experienced college representatives who review artwork, offer critique, discuss college plans, and share information about their schools. If you are interested in graduate programs, the National Portfolio Day Association now hosts the Graduate Portfolio Days. See the schedule for the Graduate Portfolio Days. Additionally, some colleges participating in undergraduate National Portfolio Days may offer graduate programs and be able to review your portfolio. Please contact the school directly for more information.

What should I bring to Portfolio Day? Your portfolio can include finished pieces, works in progress, and sketchbooks. We ask you to bring your original artwork whenever possible. We suggest that you do not spend time and money matting or framing your work. Keep your presentation simple: the work itself is what is of most interest to the college representatives. You may present your portfolio digitally, but it is your responsibility to have a working laptop/digital device with your portfolio.

What is the National Portfolio Day Association? The National Portfolio Day Association (NPDA) was created in 1978, solely for the organization and planning of National Portfolio Days. The Association consists of representatives from regionally accredited colleges and universities, which are members of the National Association of Schools of Art and Design. The NPDA is the only organization of its kind, and its membership represents the highest standard of visual arts education available in the United States and Canada
