Sharon Core was born in 1965 in New Orleans. She holds a BFA in Painting from the University of Georgia, Athens, 1987 and an MFA in photography from The Yale University School of Art, 1998. Core began photographing while living abroad in the early 1990's. Her work has been exhibited in the US and internationally since 1998. Recent exhibitions include "Sharon Core: 1606-1907" at the Yancey Richardson Gallery in New York and "Significant Objects: The Spell of Still Life" at The Norton Simon Museum in Pasadena.  Her work is included in numerous public collections including The Guggenheim Museum, New York, The J. Paul Getty Museum, Los Angeles and The Amon-Carter Museum, Fort Worth. She has recently published her first monograph "Early American" with Radius Books in Santa Fe. The artist lives and works in Esopus, New York.
