Students Stand Out While Honoring Martin Luther King, Jr.

Two MassArt students will be recognized at the annual Colleges of the Fenway breakfast honoring Martin Luther King, Jr. The breakfast will be held at 8:30 a.m., Tuesday, Feb. 5  at Wentworth Institute of Technology's Watson Auditorium.

Geena Matuson ('13, film/video) has won the COF essay contest,  "Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.'s Dream: What it means to me today". She will read her essay at the breakfast.

Additionally, Ted Pioli (MFA, communication design) has been awarded honorable mention in the creative expression contest for his piece "Free At Last," created with marker on bristol board. The illustration depicts four different portraits of Martin Luther King, Jr. He said of the piece: "The central image is a serene portrait of him. The surrounding images portray powerful and forceful expressions. All of the drawings convey both the power and ferocity of MLK's drive for what he knew was right, as well as the tranquility and peace that were in his heart."
