Earth: Fragile Planet
Earth: Fragile Planet is a traveling exhibition that addresses the current environmental issues that we face today. Forty works were chosen from the EARTH: Fragile Planet exhibition that was on display at the Museum of American Illustration at the Society of Illustrators from June 3 through July 31, 2010.
TEAM MASSACHUSETTS COMPETES IN U.S. DEPARTMENT OF ENERGY’S 2011 SOLAR DECATHLON WITH 4D HOME DESIGN
After nearly two years of committed planning and design, the 2011 Solar Decathlon Team Massachusetts heads to Washington, D.C. where its completed “4D Home” will participate alongside 19 other collegiate entries in this year’s competition.
MSAE Thesis Exhibition
The Graduate Program in Art Education at Massachusetts College of Art and Design (MassArt) is pleased to announce a multi-media showcase of thesis works by candidates in the Master of Science in Art Education program. The exhibition features drawing, installation, painting, printmaking, photography, and sculpture. Artists include: Darren Buck, Joanna Chase, Bree Curtis, Darlene Gillan, Annie Kane O'Connor, Sheryl Pace, and Jeremiah Stevenson.

Shahzia Sikander
Shahzia Sikander works in a time of great geopolitical change. Recent events in the Middle East, for example, have helped to break down clichéd cultural and political boundaries and open up new frameworks for contemporary visual art. Working in painting, drawing, animation, installation, video, and film, and employing ideas that are often subversive and polemical in nature, Sikander creates artworks that are physical manifestations of the momentum of our globalized world.
Massachusetts College of Art and Design Commencement 2011
President Katherine Sloan will present the Massachusetts College of Art and Design graduating class of 2011 in an outdoor ceremony to be held at the college on Friday, May 20, at 1:00 p.m. Over 385 graduate and undergraduate students will be awarded Bachelor of Fine Arts, Master of Architecture, Master of Fine Arts, Master of Arts in Teaching, and Master of Science in Art Education degrees. In addition to recognizing the tremendous efforts of graduating students, the college will award the Honorary Doctorate of Fine Arts to art collective Gran Fury. Michael Nesline will accept the honorary degree on behalf of the group and will address the graduates. MassArt is also honoring Art All-State (Honnee Hess, Director of Education, and Gillian Bonazoli, Art All-State Coordinator) as Distinguished Educators of the Year and The Godine Medal will be awarded to Michael and Katharine Dukakis. The charge to alumni will be given by ’07 photography alumna Jess T. Dugan.

Flourish: Alumni Works on Paper is the first juried alumni exhibition to be held in the Bakalar & Paine Galleries at MassArt. Showcasing the breadth of talent and excellence embodied by MassArt’s artists and designers, this exhibition features the work of 64 international artists working in a range of disciplines.

Dawn Barrett Selected as President
of Massachusetts College of Art and Design
Dawn Barrett, Dean of the Architecture and Design Division at Rhode Island School of Design, Providence, RI, has been selected as president of Massachusetts College of Art and Design, Richard Shea, Chairman of the MassArt board of trustees announced.

MassArt's Center for Art and Community Partnerships unveils its new ArtMobile, SPARC. This mobile van will "foster art and creativity" by engaging community members in artmaking activities like printmaking, painting, drawing, and poetry.
